Von Purdy lit up a room. She was a self-effacing joy and comfort to all who knew her. From the Internet, she found what she must do in September of 2004. After going through the dreadful surprise of having walked around with 108 tumors, she submitted to a debulking, an emergency by two prominent physicians in California. The expense of a MOAS (Mother Of All Surgeries) frightened her, but she wanted, with all the strength she could muster, to live. Her friends and relatives are attempting to find the best path to entreat doctors' and scientists' interest in referring rare cancer patients to specialists, as soon as an urgent circumstance is identified.. Doctors can then share with patients the option of undergoing internal heated chemotherapy, which some of Von's Internet friends have experienced and are living normal lives five years later. These friends and their journeys were the mainstay of Von's life in those three years.
